Description
The OPTN's secure transplant information database contains all national data on the candidate waiting list, organ donation and matching, and transplantation. This system is critical in helping organ transplant institutions match waiting candidates with donated organs. Institutions also rely on the database to manage time-sensitive, life-critical data of all candidates, before and after their transplants.

Data Format
Aggregate data available by contacting the program. UNOS data requests are considered by the UNOS scientific advisory committee. Data requests may incur a financial charge if special programming is required. In addition, Public Use Data Tape is available for purchase on diskette. This tape is updated periodically and includes data based on the UNOS produced reports of center specific transplant survival rates.
Method/Technique
Each center supplies the information to UNOS which then transmits the data to HRSA on a monthly basis.
