Method/Technique
Within each part of the UK and in Wales and Scotland, a designated epidemiology coordinator is responsible for the local delivery of the program, assisted by a regional trainer who attends the national training and calibration exercise. In conjunction, they determine the methods to be used by health authorities wishing to have their data included in summary reports prepared by the Association. Caries is diagnosed at the caries into dentine (d3) threshold using a visual method without radiography, fiber-optic transillumination, or compressed air. The examination commences with an interview conducted by an appropriately trained member of the examining team to collect personal information and, where required, data about current dental experiences and relevant history. For the clinical exam, the examiner will sit behind the subject who will be in a supine position
