Description

Policymakers can measure the impact of legislation changes, draw comparisons between states and the national average, and use data to effect policy change. Researchers and academics can perform rapid analyses online or download spreadsheets to study the data. Advocates can track their state’s progress and create graphics to influence decision-makers. State agency staff can respond rapidly to information requests and support program monitoring, reporting, and analysis. Employment providers can identify benchmarks to support organizational goals and performance improvement. Users can select what type of analysis they want to conduct using two main tools: The "Build a Chart" module allows users to examine descriptive information on state characteristics, services, or outcomes using the data sets offered on the site. Users may build a chart summarizing one or more states. They may also select a national total to benchmark their state or other states against the overall nationwide trend. Most data elements are available at the national level. State Snapshots provide summaries of state-level and national data that display pertinent information from the National Survey of State IDD Agencies and National Core Indicators in a digestible format. The site includes data from state intellectual and developmental disability agencies, and vocational rehabilitation outcomes and services from the Rehabilitation Services Administration. It also features data from the Social Security Administration, state mental health agencies, the U.S. Census, and the U.S. Department of Labor.
